Lets Try This Again...

Well, as you might know, our first trip to Discovery was some what of a success.  She had an amazing day until she hit that darn tree.  After the accident, we got Hailey back up to Snowbowl to get her back on her feet.  She was doing great on the rope tow, so we thought we would give Discovery a try...again.

Eating a cinnamon roll on the way up to Discovery!  Yummy....

Daddy and Hailey first ride up the chair....things are looking good so far!

Maybe I was being too optimistic (which if you know me, that isn't usually the case)  Things didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped.  She was so excited all morning to be going skiing, but once we got there, I think the accident all came back to her and she was pretty unsure about going.  She just kept saying she didn't want to hit a tree.  So, we got her up the hill, promised her we wouldn't take the tree run and hoped she would ski.

Run #1 and #2 took us about two hours.  Yikes!  It didn't go well.  She was scared to death to go down the hill.  Hailey wears a backpack (which we only use because it has a handle on it and we can easily put her on the chairlift).  Inside the pack there are tethers.....she insisted on using them.  Instead of skiing on her own, Kevin had to use the tethers to get her down the hill.  All she would do is snow plow: no turns and she didn't want to go fast.  Looks like it was going to be a long day!

We decided to take a break and go in for lunch.  She said she was done and wanted to go home.  We wouldn't let that happen, so we told her we would like to make a few more runs.  She agreed.  The first one was slow and then we decided to have some fun.  We started butt dancing...yes, you read that right.  She thought it was so funny.  She somehow forgot she was scared and started skiing just like last time....with confidence.  She was turning, going fast, not snow plowing, and most of all....having fun.  Thank goodness!

The butt dance...yes, skiing and shaking your butt.  She thought it was so funny!  Thanks to Kevin for coming up with the idea.  She loved it!

 Hailey in action.

 Catching up to Daddy.

Look at that form...you go girl!

That's what I call a BIG piece of pie.

We ended up making about 9 runs, which is pretty good considering how our morning went.  She did amazing and had a great time.  We hope to get up there one more time before the season ends.

Hailey skiing through Daddy's legs.  Her new favorite thing!

Taking a break and checking out the view!

Hailey skiing....here you can see the kind of run she has been doing.  As she would say, "This is pretty steep."

 All smiles!

Getting a little push from Daddy.

 Waiting for 5 from Mom.

 Closed....no way.

We are so proud of her and can't believe how much she has grown as a skier.  The new outfit makes her look pretty grown up too....no more one pieces for her!  She is officially a big kid!  She is already talking about next year and getting to ski with Sydney.  We'll see.......

Big hugs for Daddy!
