Sydney Alex Papp
16 Months Old
20 lbs.
Sydney is all over. She is no longer walking....she is running and is fast. She is also a monkey. If she can find something to climb up on she will. She loves to get up on the couch, step stools, and rocking chair. She does so much more than Hailey ever did at this age...probably because she is watching Hailey's every move. She continues to go up and down the stairs easily and has been attempting to walk down. The gates are down now and that has been a huge relief to me.
Always on the go!
Drawing with the magnets.
Sydney loves sitting in the rocking chair with books.
Playing with stickers.
Crayons in and out of the box....all day long!
She loves tooth brushes and would spend the entire day chewing on one if we let her. We have to keep them hidden away in a drawer or she will get to them. Sydney now has 12 teeth. She just had her first dental appointment the other day and has no cavities. The dentist did notice that she has a large piece of skin attaching her lip to her gums. I guess it's fairly common and not to worry. She said Sydney will eventually fall or something will happen to separate it. Otherwise, it will be clipped down the road. After being told this I took a look at it and now understand why we never see Sydney's top front teeth. When she smiles her lip is being held down by that flap of skin. Anyway, she did awesome at her appointment with no crying and she actually let the Dentist look in her mouth. I was amazed.
Peek-a-boo
Ready to go for a walk.
Sydney is potty training...or I guess I should say poop training. She first went poop on the potty when she was about 14 months old. I thought it was a fluke, but she continues to go. She will come up to you grabbing her crotch and saying poop. Then, she takes off for the bathroom, climbs the stairs, gets her potty seat out of the cabinet, lifts the toilet seat, puts on her little seat, and then tries to get her clothes off. When I put her on the potty, she will usually go! It is crazy. As of now, she has gone poop on the potty four days in a row. Oh...and she loves to fart on the toilet. She thinks it's pretty funny. She also potties at least once a day but that is just by chance.
She is listening to commands really well and "for the most part" will listen and do what you ask. She enjoys helping Mommy in the kitchen and with the laundry. If she finds any garbage around the house, she puts it in the trash. She will pick up her toys in the playroom when asked....which is awesome. The only thing she doesn't listen to real well is getting ready to go. If I ask her to come downstairs and get her shoes and coat she will run from me....but only because it's a game now!
Helping Mommy clean the kitchen.
Fixing hair at the salon....what fun!
Sydney is talking up a storm. She copies everything we say. She does use many words consistently throughout the day: slide, pup pup, color, hot, snack, baby, ball, yes, no, hat, shoes, socks, plate, done, poop, Momma, Dadda, outside, head, nose, eyes, baby, down, up, and paci. Those are the ones I can think of. There are a few words she says all the time. Her favorite word to speak is Hailey. She calls her name a hundred times a day. She does also make many animal noises: mooo, quack, baaaa, etc.
Playing on the slide outside and inside.
What she's into:
- getting her shoes and standing at the door asking to go outside.
- playing with the Step2 slide. We most recently moved it inside and she spends her day on that.
- coloring with Hailey. She sits on the chair next to her sister and scribbles.
- taking care of babies: feeding, putting to bed.
- Pup Pup....she loves him. That is her pink dog she got when she was born.
- pushing herself forward and backward on the play bus.
- blowing her nose. She has a thing with getting tissues and wiping her nose.
- Getting pretty good at eating with a fork and spoon.
Hailey showing Sydney her V Reader.
Having some snacks at the table.
It's color time!
And now snuggle time!
Sydney has more energy than I know what to do with. There is never a dull moment with her....she is on the go. We are looking forward to the next few months and summer coming.
