Sydney Alex Papp
18 Months Old
20 lbs. 15 oz. (7%) and 31 inches long (30%)
Sydney is still on the go, but now running everywhere. Recently she has begun walking and running on her toes...so it looks like she is prancing around. Very silly looking. She might just be more of a monkey than Hailey. She loves to climb. If there is something to get up on she will: couch, tables, benches, and most recently the bar stools in the kitchen. All gates are down in the house and that has been nice for all of us. Sydney is starting to walk the stairs instead of crawl...she is holding onto the rail or wall for support.
Playing at the park.
Sydney is an amazing sleeper. In the last six months she has been up only a hand full of times during the night. She typically sleeps between 11-12 hours. She goes down around 8 and is up between 7 and 8. Sydney is taking awesome afternoon naps starting at 1 and lasting until 4. Lets hope those continue for some time! She continues to sleep with Pup-Pup and baby....and of course 6-7 pacifiers.
A friend borrowed this toy and now that we have it back...it's her favorite.
Watching a show.
These two really do love each other. Hailey is the first person Sydney asks for when she wakes up and the last person she wants to see before bed. They are truly best buds. We couldn't ask for better kids.

Little Piggy...I mean Sydney is a great eater. She snacks all day and still eats crazy amounts of food at meal time. She will always sit still at dinner and finish her plate...and usually ask for more. Some of her favorite foods are: cheese sticks, sausage rice casserole, Marsala Chicken, carrots, yogurt, and goldfish. She loves to use utensils and immediately asks for a spoon when she sits down to eat. When she is done she will push her plate and milk away from her and say, "I done" and she means it....not a bite after that. She still doesn't drink much liquid during the day, maybe 10 oz. At 18 months, Sydney has 14 teeth. She just got two of her canine teeth in this week.
What an easy baby. Sydney is always on the go, but will wander and do her own thing all day. She doesn't need anyone to play with, she is fine playing by herself. She does ask for Hailey all day long. I bet she says her name 100 times a day...especially if Hailey is at school. She listens to commands and does an excellent job following instructions: put that in the garbage, head upstairs for teeth, go get your milk, etc. She is the first one to start picking up when asked and really does enjoy it. She is starting to answer specific questions when asked: where is Daddy (work), what do you want to do (color), what do you want to drink (milk). She is also very good at knowing the difference between yes and no and states them with authority. When she says NO, she means it.
Enjoying some cream...as she calls it...on the front porch.
Watch out...here she comes.

Riding the carousel with Daddy. We have season passes now and are there a lot.
Sydney is talking up a storm. Since my last post on Sydney (two months ago) her vocabulary has shot through the roof. I honestly can't say how many words she knows...it's a lot...maybe 50+. She has even begun putting words together. Some of her two word phrases are: I go too, where Hailey, bye bye see ya, me color, poop quick, me up, Avery's shoes, my pants, Hailey bike, and Hailey helmet. I know there are more, but that is just a few.
Here is what she is in to:
- Loves going outside and asks all day long to ride her bike. She insists she wears her helmet/hat like her big sis. We take many trips to the mailbox and back each day...ringing the bell along the way.
- Slides. If we are at the park she will go on the same slide the whole time we are there...doesn't matter how steep or long, she loves it.
- Playing with her sister. They get along so well and Hailey is so protective of her.
- Reading....finally. She will now sit and listen to books and has her favorites: Good Morning-Good Night, Freight Train, Elmo.
- Helping with laundry: loading and unloading the washer and dryer.
- Candy and treats....she loves them. She calls most candy gum and asks for it constantly.
- Hugging and kissing. So sweet to get a big kiss and then hear her say, "hug too."
- She knows what she wants and if she doesn't get it....watch out!
- Milo- Sydney loves Katie's dog. If she hears the word Katie she immediately starts calling for Milo.
- Looking to the side, tilting her head, and squinting when she knows she is in trouble or up to no good. Hard to explain that and don't have a picture, but you'll know it when you see it.
- We don't take a single ride in the car without her socks and shoes coming off.
- Her paci is a huge part of her life. I don't think any worse than Hailey liked it, but she is instant that she has it ALL day.
- The child watch center at the Y. She sure enjoys it and has so much fun playing there, especially when Lilly is working. I love coming to pick her up and she runs to me screaming Mommy! Makes my day.
- Loves fixing Mommy's hair with the play salon.
- Potty training- I would say she goes on the potty at least 4-5 times a day and almost always poops on the potty. She will tell me she needs to poop when she is playing or out and about around town. She does a pretty good job of holding it and when she says she has to go, she usually does. Can't wait to get out of diapers!
Nothing better than being outside and playing on the riding toys.
Happy Half- Birthday Sydney...you are loved!
