Sydney Turns Two

 Sydney Alex Papp
2 years old
22 lbs 7 oz (4%) and 32.5 inches (18%)

A look back at the last two years.

We can not believe our baby girl is two.  Where the time has gone...who knows.  What we do know is our BIG two year old girl lights up our lives and fills our home with so much joy and laughter.  She is about as unique as they come....her personality like no other two year old I have ever seen.  Sydney is so bright, silly, and caring.

The one thing Sydney has excelled at for months is her talking.  At two years old most parents can say their child speaks in short phrases.  Sydney....entire sentences and not short ones.  She rambles on like a three year old.  So many people have come up to me and been totally shocked at her vocabulary and clarity.  They are always blown away when I tell them how old she is.  Not only is she talking a lot, but she is asking questions and rationalizing everything you say and do.  Here are some of her best phrases/sentences:  here we go, this is too hard for you Mom, I do it, let me show you, oh goodness, I want that for my birthday, it's dark out suns going down I see the moon,  its dinner time come eat, and Hailey get out of my face.

 All dressed up...looking good Sydney.

 Having fun making glasses.

Time to color...Sydney loves Markers.

Sydney enjoys playing with her toys.  If you ask her what she wants to do today she will always reply...Play!  She has a great sense of imagination and often role plays with her pretend babies and Hailey.  Right now she is really into taking care of her baby she got for her birthday.  She feeds it, cleans it, changes the clothes.  She asks her Daddy to take care of it sometimes and then when Daddy makes the baby cry Sydney says, "Give me baby Daddy, she wants her Mommy".  She also love to play kitchen and make coffee for everyone.  She is always willing to do whatever Hailey is doing and enjoys playing with big girl things....no need for baby toys around here.

Searching for the perfect Christmas gift together.

This little girl is smart.  She picks up on the smallest of things.  If you put something in the wrong place, she lets you know....nothing slides by her. If you tell her we are going to do something after nap, you better do it because she remembers.  Sydney's go to response for a lot of things is..."why you do that Momma?"  She wants to know everything that is going on.  Sydney is learning lots of new things with each passing month.  I love this age because they are so inquisitive and want to learn.  She can count to 10, name objects in books, tells you what things are doing, and can sing parts of the ABC's.  She has NO interest in learning her colors.  If you ask her what color something is her answer is blue or I don't know.

Speaking of smart...This girl can run and Ipad like you couldn't believe.  Blow my mind what kids can do with technology these days.

Sydney's coordination has really grown.  She is always on the go.  Most often you can find her prancing and skipping around the house.  She is pretty quick and loves to chase after Hailey.  They run around the dining room table.  She is also a climber.  She can get on and off the bar stools, couch, beds, etc.  She walks up and down the stairs with no support or rails.

Puzzles, one of her new favorites.

 Having fun making crafts.

Here are some of her favorite things:  Pup-Pup, Jen,  Hailey, books, puzzles, babies, puppies, Bubble Guppies, her cousins (all of them), slides, candy, Nana's and Papa's, Jerry and Diane, helping with anything and everything, being held by Mommy, the carousel, and coloring.

Sydney is still a really good eater.  She pretty much cleans her plate for each meal and often asks for more.  She is always the first at the table...waiting for the food.  She doesn't like sitting in the booster seat and insists on sitting in a big girl chair like Hailey.  She has only fallen off once, but at least she is cautious now.  If you tell her the food is too hot she will try anyway.  Once realizing it is too hot, she stirs and blows on it, and then reply's, "it better now."  She love to drink from a big girl up, but Mommy doesn't let it happen too often.  Baby forks and spoons are a thing of the past, she wants a big fork or spoon.

Hello there!

We have moved Sydney into a big girl bed...well kind of.  She has one rail off of her crib, so she can get in and out.  She does a pretty good job of staying in her bed when falling asleep.  Now, the middle of the night is another story.  For the past few weeks she has been having a hard time sleeping through the night and has found her way into Mommy and Daddy's bed.  Yes, bad habit but I want to sleep too!   If you ask her where and who she sleeps with she will say, "Mommy's bed."  She still sleeps with her paci, but that will be going away real soon.  And of course....not a night goes by without Pup-pup.

Sydney and Pup-pup.   She sure loves him.

Best of buds.

Potty training is going well.  She has been going in the potty since 14 months.  Very rarely does she poop in her pull up and potty is at about 50%.  She does have some dry days and then other days she doesn't go at all.  So, we are getting there...she is motivated and loves her stickers, so we are hoping in the next few months to be out of diapers in this house!

Sydney at the Jingle Bell Run.

Here are just a few fun facts about our little girl.
  • She loves to pick up.  When I ask them to clean or tidy up, she is the first to get started and the last to be done.  She loves to tell Hailey to help.
  • She is picky about her hands being dirty.  The minute they get dirty she asks for a napkin.
  • She can't wait to go to school.  If you ask her when she is going she would say, "when I get bigger".  Since turning two she now says, "I'm bigger now..I can go to school."
  • When we drive by Loose Caboose she asks me if I want to stop and get a coffee from the Coffee Train...so thoughtful of her.
  • She is loving.  You don't have to say I love you to get an I love you back.  She is sooooo good at just saying it without you saying it first...melts your heart.  And as Sydney says..."I love you too tight".
  • She love her Hailey.  Asks for her first thing in the morning.  Loves to snuggle with her and be close.  Hates leaving her at school in the mornings.  Her best friend.

You know I could go on and on about our special little girl.  She is a blessing and we are so thankful everyday that she is ours.  We look forward to seeing what comes with being 3...this one is strong willed...so let the tantrums being...I see it in our future!

What a big (little) girl Sydney has grown up to be in her two short years. She has given us so much joy...so fun to watch she and Haily together! Looking forward to the next year of watching both of them.
