Hailey....3.25 years!

Time for the quarterly update on Hailey.  Honestly this gets harder and harder to write.  I could go on and on for ever describing to you all she has accomplished and done in the last three months.....especially academically.  I hope to make this short and sweet....but I have to brag on our sweet little girl ~ or should I say big girl!

Love, love, love.  The last three months have been so wonderful.  Hailey is as precious and sweet as she can possibly be.  She is so polite and uses please and thank you most of the time...along with your welcome.  Out of no where, she will tell you she loves you and gives you hugs and kisses.  Her favorite part of the day is cuddle time with Mommy in the morning.  She is super sweet with Sydney and adores her.  As Hailey always says..."I love you to the sky and back."

Hailey's language development is more than I would have ever expected at this age.  Maybe I don't know what is typical, but she says some pretty crazy stuff.  Let me just tell you she will go on and on, but here are a few of her favorite lines:

• I'm not quite sure, I'll get back to you.
• It's a disaster in here.  (Talking about the playroom.)
• If they don't have it here we can go look in another isle or section.
• It's okay Mommy, that happens some times.
• I can't eat that...it's not healthy.
• Are you going to get me there on time?
• Go put Sydney in her bed so we can do a craft.
• You guys need to separate a little big. (when setting us up to take a picture)
• Is it the weekend...I can't wait for Daddy to be home.

Her academic growth is what surprises me most.  In the last three months she has really gotten excited about learning her ABC's and their sounds.  Here are some of her accomplishments:

• Knows about half of the letters by site and can name them. A, B, C, E, F, H, I, J, K, L, N, O, P, S, T, V, Z.
• Knows the sounds of EVERY letter  Ex: an A say aaaaaaaa.
• Names beginning letter sounds in words.
• Counts to 16.
• Recognizes and names shapes: circle, square, triangle, diamond, oval, rectangle
• Can spell and write her name....except for the e.
• Draws several of her shapes: circle, triangle, square.
• Does basic addition and subtraction....without knowing she is doing it.  Ex:  If she gets three of something she would say, "I only need two more."
• Knows and names opposites.  
• Coloring objects with correlating colors. Apples are red and the leaves are green.  She is also kind of trying to stay close to the lines.
• Starting to draw objects: people, houses, trees, clouds, rainbows, swings, and slides.

Hailey started her second year of preschool at The Good Shepherd. She is in the three-year-old group on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30-1:00.  Her teacher this year is Miss. Maranda and Hailey really likes her.  She continues to do well and loves going to school.  She enjoys having her cousin Brooke there with her, even though they are in different classes.

Hailey has also...in the last three months.....really gotten good at playing by herself.  She used to want me to play with her constantly, but now she will go off to her room or the playroom and play for long periods of time without me.  SO NICE!  She doesn't play with many toys.  She does however play with her kitchen/grocery stuff, dolls, cosmetic vanity, and coloring/craft supplies.  She has a huge imagination and role plays/acts out everything from being at Costco, to swimming lessons, to a restaurant waitress.  She loves fixing hair and dressing up like Fancy Nancy.  Most of then you can find her with a pair of scissors in her hand....she could cut all day long.  In fact, most days at school I am greeted with a pile of little cut up pieces of paper from Hailey's free time.

Other things Hailey loves to do or is good at:

•  Cutting-  She can cut around objects very well...even small ones.
• Jumping- on and off of everything.
• Orders and asks for her own things at restaurants.
• Knows how to get to some places in town.  Can tell you where we are.
• Remembers everything.  She can tell you details of what she did at places months ago.  Ex: Being at McDonald's "Brooke poked me in the eye."  Said probably 6 months after the fact.
• Bargains to get her way.
• Is good at trading.  If Sydney has something she wants she just takes Sydney something else to get what she needs.
• Wants to sign/write her name on Everything.
• LOVES to clean up and have things clean.  She tidies up her bedroom all the time. Meticulous about things being in the right spot.
• Loves to tell people what to do.  She thinks she is in control of everyone.  Ex:  You sit there.  Daddy is sitting here.
• Enjoys taking pictures with her camera and can run all the settings.  Adds special effects to each picture and can view them.
• Will do 10 crafts a day if you let her.  The minute Sydney goes to nap she is begging for one.
• Loves to watch her two shows a day.  She always asks for the learning ones:  Super Why or Leap Frog Letter Factory.
• Good listener and does what you ask.
• Really into her Christian CD.  She can sing about 5 songs really well.   
• Loves to give Hugs and kisses.  XOXOX

• Song- He's Got the Whole World In his Hands and Zacchaeus was a Wee Little Man

In other news:

• Still working on staying dry at night.
• No naps.  But is going to bed between 7:30 and 8:00 going right down.
• One of her ear tubes in out...so hoping to make it through the winter without ear problems.
• Enjoyed all of the fall activities: leaves, pumpkins, apple pressing, and Halloween.

Lastly, Hailey is an amazing big sister.  Sydney is so lucky to have such a great role model.  Hailey loves her so much and plays very well with her....involving her in much of her day.  Hailey would love nothing more than to pick her up and drag her around with her everywhere.  She loves to hug and kiss her and is proud of everything Sydney is doing.  Some of the names Hailey calls her: Syd, sweet girl, Sporto, and babes. They are going to be real buds!
