Sydney 12 months

 Sydney Alex Papp
12 months old
18 lbs. 9 oz (12%) and 28 inches (18%)

Sydney is officially walking.  She started taking continuous steps (5-8) right before we left for Hawaii.  When we got home she was pretty much on the move.  So, she started walking right at 11.5 months, just like Hailey did.  She seldom crawls anymore and is getting faster by the day....it won't be long and she'll be running!  Watch out!  Sydney is also very good at coming down the stairs on her own.  She turns around on her tummy and slides down.  Lets hope the gates can come down soon!

On the move...walking at 11.5 months.

Sydney is still into copying people.  You make a noise and she tries to make the same noise.  She is starting to understand and remember what objects are:  hair brush for her head, sock and shoes for her feet (she tries to put them on...so cute), phone to the ear, etc.  She loves to push small buttons, especially on the cable boxes.  She tries her hardest to get to Hailey's markers and can now get the caps off.  She has a few toys she plays with often: picnic basket, ball pounder, and anything Hailey is playing with.  She is getting better about reading books and will sit and listen better.  She uses her hands to twinkle when singing or hearing the song "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star".  She also does "If you're Happy and You Know It" and "No More Monkey's Jumping on the Bed."  She continues to make words and use them in context:  mama, dada, ba ba, bye, hi.  If you ask her to go to bed or take a nap, she will head for the stairs toward her bedroom.  She points at everything and grunts.  Lastly, she has started helping when getting her clothes on:  picking up her feet when putting on pants and pushing her arms through.

Playing with her ball pounder...she has good aim.

I can't keep her off this horse....she loves it!

This little girl also has a temper.  She can get pretty upset when you take something away from her...especially her toothbrush.  She also does not like being told NO.  She falls down and just balls.  Unlike her sister, she is not a good listener.  When asking her not to do something she typically goes and does what you ask her not to do.  We have a feeling she is going to try and push our buttons and give us a run for our money.

She has a temper...but she is a sweetie too!  Sydney loves to give kisses and cuddle.  When you ask her to love her baby, she holds it tight and rocks back and forth.

I have to say...Sydney does an unbelievable job sleeping.  It has been months since she woke up during the night.  She typically sleeps between 11-12 hours at night.  When it's time for a nap, you can put her in her crib and she will go down without a fuss.  She is still napping twice per day...but I think we are on our way to one.  We are doing our best to get her off her bottle.  She is now drinking cows milk instead of formula in her bottles.  She is getting better with a tippy cup, but still prefers the bottle.  Sydney eats like crazy and is now refusing baby food.  She screams and cries when she doesn't have the same food as us...so she is getting everything the same...which is easier on everyone.

Getting into the kitchen cabinets and loving it!

Sydney is such a joy.  She is growing up way to fast, but we look forward to seeing more of her personality and the close friendship her and her sister develop.
